Many additional resources need to be added. That being said, it is still the most comprehensive list around.

                                Adams County

                                ACTS of Kindness Theatre Company, a community theater using the New Oxford High School Auditorium. Information: 334-5006.

                                Arts in Education Partnership, hosted by the Cultural Alliance of York County, is the regional extension of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts that serves Adams, Franklin and York counties by offering artist residencies to schools and non-profit service agencies in those counties.

                                The Adams County Arts Council, is committed to promoting an environment in which the arts are supported, enhanced, and enjoyed by the community and its visitors. It is a 500-member nonprofit agency supporting artistic efforts throughout the county’s schools and communities.

                                Gettysburg College Theatre Department

                                Majestic Theater hosts an assortment of professional touring and college and community music, dance, theater events and film.


                                Cumberland County

                                Allenberry Playhouse, in Boiling Springs, 258-3211 or 1-800-430-5468, runs student programs through the Allenberry Professional Theatre Conservatory for Young Artists. EDU

                                Carlisle Theatre is the home of the Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center.

                                Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg strives to provide high-quality entertainment in an intimate setting, while educating and enriching the lives of volunteer directors, performers and production staff.

                                Messiah College Theatre Department

                                Oyster Mill Playhouse is the home of a volunteer-driven community theatre.  Each year, we present a season of eight productions including musicals, comedies, mysteries and dramas at the playhouse. The productions are staged and performed by area talent.


                                Dauphin County

                                Gamut Theatre Group, (GTG) (Harrisburg) is the combined Theatre Company of Popcorn Hat Players Children's Theatre and Harrisburg Shakespeare Festival. Our mission is to tell classic stories in new and exciting ways. We are dedicated to producing classic tales for the enlightenment, entertainment and education of children and adults alike. GTG is an Educational Improvement Organization as approved by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development and is on the PA Council on the Arts Arts in Education Roster.                                 Harrisburg Opera Association produces operas using local and visiting talent to provide hands-on experience in all phases of opera production.                                 Hershey Theatre, presents touring Broadway shows, classical music and dance attractions.

                                Hershey Area Playhouse, EDU

                                The Lykens Community Theatre, produces four different productions each year.

                                Open Stage of Harrisburg, offers professional theatre and educational programs. The company of artists presents diverse offerings of thought-provoking theatre and educational activities.                                 South Central PaARTners, South Central PaARTners at Millersville University, an Arts in Education Partner with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, is dedicated to strengthening arts education in this region through quality programs, strong partnerships and vigorous advocacy efforts. As a part of that effort, their Artist Residency Program strives to bring the highest quality professional artists into schools and community organizations across the region (Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, southeastern Dauphin and northwestern Chester counties). In addition to artist residency services, it is a resource for professional development opportunities in arts education for teachers, artists and other professionals.

                                Sunoco Performance Theater at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, hosts a variety of performing artists on its stage.

                                Theatre Harrisburg, is a community theater and the resident theatre of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Performing Arts. Volunteer opportunities abound. EDU


                                Franklin County

                                Capitol Theatre Center presents many touring and local theater, music and dance performances in addition to being the resident theatre of the Chambersburg Community Theatre.

                                Chambersburg Community Theatre, is an all-volunteer organization that seeks to entertain, educate and increase community awareness of the performing arts.

                                Lancaster County

                                American Music Theater, is primarily a venue for professional touring vocal acts.

                                Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, offers Student Performing Arts and Theatre Training Sessions (S.P.A.T.T.S.) and we continue our commitment to education by speaking to students about the performing arts.                                 Elizabethtown College Fine and Performing Arts Department

                                Ephrata Area Community Theater (Ephrata ACT)

                                Ephrata Performing Arts Center is a community theater with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. In addition it offers theater classes for youths and adults. EDU

                                Franklin and Marshall College, Theater, Dance and Film Department,. F&M has three performance spaces: Barshinger Center, Green Room Theatre and Roschel Performing Arts Center.

                                Freedom Chapel Dinner Theatre (Christiana)

                                The Fulton Opera House, (Lancaster) a professional Equity regional theater with acting and educational opportunities for non-union young people. Programming includes its nationally celebrated Family Theatre Program, Academy of Theatre classes, an annual High School Theatre Festival and the NEA honored youth theater project, Youtheatre, for teens.                                 Hole in the Wall Puppet Theatre, Inc.

                                Lancaster Bible College, LBC’s drama organization, TALENT (Theater–Acting Language, Effective Nucleus Teams), exists for the purpose of connecting the LBC family and its community, and communicating truths about our world through drama. Members of the various teams work together to present on-campus performances.

                                Opera Lancaster, is dedicated to the art form of opera with an emphasis on quality productions using the best local talent available.                                 Theater of the Seventh Sister, is the professional theater in residence at Millersville University. It participates with South Central PaARTeners to bring its educational programming into schools. TSS places a special emphasis on interpreting the Bard. EDU


                                Lebanon County

                                Lebanon Community Theatre is a non-profit, volunteer organization made up of many talented people both on the stage and behind the scenes who volunteer their time to create live theatre. Each production requires help in many different areas: Set design and construction, costuming, and stage crew are just a few of the "behind-the-scenes" jobs needed to make a production come to life. People with day jobs become artists, carpenters, and directors in the evenings and weekends. They all come together in the interest of providing great performing arts for the community.

                                Lebanon Valley College English Department http://www.lvc.edu/english/programs.aspx?page is home to student theater productions.

                                Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts is the area's umbrella arts agency. We serve as an advocate for artists working in all the disciplines and a clearinghouse for information on all aspects of the arts. We promote theater, music and dance performances.

                                Mount Gretna Theatre at the Mount Gretna Playhouse is primarily a professional summer stock company, however, there are many volunteer opportunities.

                                Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and Mount Hope Mansion

                                Perry County Council on the Arts enriches local communities by providing a variety of programs and services to area artists, patrons and students.

                                The PCCA ArtFlow is the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts in Education Partnership serving Juniata, Mifflin, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder and Union Counties and is dedicated to providing high-quality, innovative residencies to students of all ages through collaboration with artists, schools, communities, businesses and governments.

                                York County

                                DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre  fosters and inspires growth, creativity and responsibility in people of all ages and cultures through a broad theatre arts program. Dreamwrights was founded by a group of families who believed that participation in a quality theatre arts program would have a profound and valuable impact on their children.  They shared a vision of a youth theatre that was also a vehicle for families to work together in all aspects of a production.  And they wanted to make sure that the experience of live theatre was affordable and available to everyone.                                 Stewartstown United Methodist Summer Community Theatre Youth focused community theater experience.

                                The Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center presents touring professional acts.

                                Traveling Children's Theater Troupe presents productions staged by a group of young actors at venues across the county. 334-5006.

                                York College, The Players is the college's student theatre troupe, It mount an array of theatrical offerings, many of them directed by students. Productions are held in both Demeester Theatre and the smaller stage of the Playpen Theatre. 

                                York Little Theatre Formed in 1933, York Little Theatre is one of the oldest continually operated community theaters in the United States. York Little Theatre offers friendship, camaraderie, as well as an opportunity to use skills and to create. It has served as a second home to thousands of individuals, from high school students to retired grandmothers. Beyond the costumes and lights, the theater has been the foundation for great friendships, great loves and great stories. EDU
